Decide in advance exactly what type of vehicle you require and
how much you intend to pay.
Make a few visits to the Auction beforehand to note the prices
achieved and watch the sales in progress.
IMPORTANT: Take
special care to listen to the auctioneer.
Always read the
notice on the passenger side window, all the relevant
information will be on it, year of manufacture, make,
model, if
there is any MOT, tax, what the mileage is and if it's warranted
or not. Also check how the vehicle is sold it will
either be AS
SEEN or WITH TRIAL.
Vehicles sold AS
SEEN means just that. There is no comeback and no rejection
possibility whatsoever after purchase. The vehicle is sold
without warranty and any defects, mechanical or otherwise are
accepted as condition of purchase.
Vehicles sold WITH
TRIAL. Again read the notice on the windscreen carefully. You
will, however, have the opportunity to try
the car and should it
fail the trial a full refund will be made. This trial must be
taken within 1 hour of the completion of sale. It
can only
be rejected on major mechanical defects i.e. Engine and
transmission.
When you are ready to bid on the vehicle of your choice, please
examine it as carefully as possible before it is driven into the
auction ring, make a note of the lot number, decide how much you
are prepared to pay, then follow the car to the rostrum.
IMPORTANT:
Take special care to listen to the auctioneer. The majority of
vehicles offered for sale at our auction, are sold on a "sold as
seen" basis and no complaints or rejections will be entertained
after the sale.
There is an indemnity fee payable on each vehicle bought. This
premium protects the buyer from stolen vehicles, insurance
write-offs, and vehicles with outstanding finance. Please read
our conditions of sale.
If you are successful with the purchase of a vehicle, at the
fall of the hammer you must come to the back of the rostrum. Your name and address will be taken and a deposit or payment in
full must be made. This may be paid either by cash or by debit
card. The deposit accepted is 10% of the sale price, minimum
£50.00.
Provisional Bids
Sometimes the bidding on a vehicle may stop slightly short of
the reserve price. At this point the auctioneer will offer the
vehicle for sale on a provisional basis. This means that the
bidder, having given his name, retains the option to purchase
subject to further negotiations with the vendor. If this results
in a successful sale the normal requirements for payment
applies, as do the standard auction rules.
Liability
At the fall of the hammer or the completion of a provisional
sale, the vehicle becomes the responsibility of the purchaser
and vehicles are left with the Company at your own risk,
therefore it is in your own interest to pay for and insure it at
your earliest opportunity.
Copies of our conditions of sale are available from the general
office, should you require them.
